About us

The Berlin School of Integrative Oncology (BSIO) offers a structured 3-year doctoral program entirely in English jointly educating natural scientists and physicians/medical students in the field of integrative oncology. Highly talented graduate students from all over the world are guided through the early phases of their careers in translational and clinically-oriented cancer research.

The comprehensive curriculum educates natural scientists and medical students/clinical scientists hand-in-hand creating an inter- transdisciplinary research and tranining atmosphere, where both groups speak the same language.

Therefore, scientific training consists of cancer-focused lecture series, seminar series of invited international and national experts in the field of cancer, and a regular international cancer conference. Additional features include soft skills training, classes on good scientific practice and support for conference visits through travel grants. Furthermore, students have the opportunity to conduct part of their project in one of the labs of the renowned international partner institutions of the BSIO in combination with a broad supervision and mentoring network.

Prof. Dr. Il-Kang Na serves as BSIO spokesperson and Stefanie Althoff as Scientific Coordinator. Prof. Dr. Clemens Schmitt was founding speaker of the BSIO until 2018.
